Holy Land and Jordan

PLAN

Duration: 8 days, 7 nights

Day 1: Tel Aviv - Nazareth 

Meeting of the Participants and departure from Rome/Bologna/Milan/Venice airports to Tel Aviv with a direct scheduled flight.

 

Day 2: Nazareth - Tiberias 

Full board in hotel. In the morning visit to Nazareth of the Fountain of the Virgin and the ancient Synagogue. Continuation to Mount Tabor. Celebration of Holy Mass at the Franciscan convent. In the afternoon we reach Tiberias. Crossing the Sea of Galilee, witnessing the many miracles of Jesus.  At the end, visit the excavations of Capernaum and Tabgha at the church of the Primacy of Peter. 

Return to the hotel at the end of the visits.

Day 3: Nazareth - Jerash - Wadi Rum

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the border with Jordan and then transfer to Wadi Rum, the most evocative desert in the Middle East.  Lunch in a restaurant. Upon arrival, tour Wadi Rum by Jeep. Hotel accommodation in Wadi Rum, dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Petra - Amman

Breakfast at the hotel. Whole day dedicated to visiting Petra, also called the "city of the Rock". Petra saw the rise and development of the great Nabatean civilization. Reachable through a long canyon that descends in a serpentine with rock walls up to 100 meters high, the city appears as an unreal vision all carved into the pink rock.  Lunch in a restaurant during the excursion. After the visit continuation to Amman. Hotel accommodation, dinner and overnight.

 

Day 5: Madaba - Mt. Nebo - Bethlehem

Breakfast at the hotel. Entrance and access to Mount Nebo, an extraordinary natural balcony which separates from the plateau of the Abarin Mountains and from whose summit  one can admire a magnificent panorama over the Jordan valley. Tradition maintains that in these places Moses admired the Promised Land.  In the same places the first Christian communities built a memorial church.  The remains of the sanctuary are entrusted to the Custody of the Holy Land.  Stop in Madaba, to visit the stupendous mosaic depicting Palestine, preserved in the Greek Orthodox church of San Giorgio

In the morning return to Israel. Arrival in Jerusalem in the evening. Dinner and overnight.

 

Day 6: Jerusalem 

Full board in the hotel. In the morning climb to the Mount of Olives and visit the Basilica of the Agony, the Sanctuary of Dominus Flevit, the Grotta del Tradimento and the tomb of the Madonna.  In the afternoon we retrace the Via Dolorosa until we reach al S. Sepolcro (Celebration of the Holy Mass).

Day 7: Jerusalem - Bethlehem

Breakfast, dinner and overnight at the hotel. In the morning we reach Mount Zion. Visit of the Last Supper and of the Church of the Dormition. Continuation to the Temple Mount, center of religious unity of the Jewish people, to visit the Western Wall (Wailing Wall).   At the end of the visits we reach Bethlehem.  Lunch in a restaurant. In the afternoon visit of the Basilica of the Nativity in Bethlehem (S. Mass).

Day 8: Jerusalem - Tel Aviv - Return to Italy 

Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning, time available for the Holy Mass celebration.

Lunch in a restaurant. Transfer to Tel Aviv airport. Boarding and departure with scheduled flight to Italy. Termination of the pilgrimage.
